Dear Clifton Brown of AAADT:

I felt betrayed when I learned only upon arrival to the Ailey performance last week, that you are now a “Guest Artist” with the company.  We all know what this means, don’t play with my emotions.  I am so hurt that you did not tell me about this career change in advance; because didn’t you know I would also be slapped with the news that Jamar Roberts has left the company to pursue visual art?!?!

Sigh.  

The thing is, NO ONE can dance Sinner Man like you (ok fine, yes, Desmond Richardson could do you one better, but that doesn’t count since he can also fly like an avian mammal and jump between buildings like Spider Man. Plus he’s stopping performing anyways, so why compare?). 

Thankfully, Alicia Graf Mack has returned to AAADT which helps to offset my pain (what a gift, that pointe).  But still!  She can’t replace you in Treading, or Bad Blood, or Episodes.   Can’t.   Won’t.

Just promise you’ll call me next time?  Even a text.  I’m on a need to know basis. Thank you.
